Founded in 1995 and based in Winchester, we work with authors anywhere, although we do specialise with people who live locally, as a number of meetings to work through the process does help.

We design, edit, do additional research and work in close association with authors to guide them through the process and work in a close and collaborative way.

A selection of our books can be seen on this website. We are adaptable to all formats and size of books, working in either monochrome or high-quality colour images. We either design the books ourselves, or if required we will bring in other specialist designers.

Our publisher, Richard Mendelsohn, has run the Short Publishing Company for 25 years, specialising in publishing small runs of boutique books. Before publishing, he had many years in business and project management, after a long stint in the Navy. He will be your main point of contact throughout your project, and enjoys nothing more than delivering the memoir you’d always dreamed of writing.

Our principal editor, Katharine Mendelsohn, has worked in publishing in various forms for some decades, having previously worked for several years on the staff at Oxford University Press. She has also written and edited many academic and educational books for Cambridge University Press, Macmillan and Pearson, among others.
